Dacias Spring Electric will be a challenge to the electric car competition
Renault will probably bring its five-door City K-ZE designed for the Asian market to Germany from 2021. Renault does not yet communicate exactly the price, but in Asia the City K-ZE is sold for around 8,000 euros. Even if the price in Europe were twice as high, the Dacia Spring Electric would be an absolute bargain. At the IAA 2019, Renault brand boss Thierry Bolloré had teased a target of £ 10,000, the equivalent of around € 11,500.
The manufacturer specifies a range of up to 200 kilometers. We should also expect a 33-kilowatt electric motor with a torque of 125 Newton meters, a fast-charging 26.8-kilowatt-hour battery and a top speed of 105 kilometers per hour.
The design impresses on the product photos published so far. We see that the Spring Electric shows a striking SUV design with the typical increased ground clearance. Front and rear have typical crossover elements. The Dacia Spring relies on full-LED headlights, which are composed of the main headlights and four other lighting elements arranged below them.
Renault plans to position the Dacia Spring Electric as "Dacia's first city car". The four-seater is scheduled to launch in 2021.
